Bora Ateşyakan, Turkey
Bora Ateşyakan began his piano education at the
age of 11 after he was accepted in Prof. Selçuk Gündemir's class at
Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory Piano Division. He
studied music theory and solfege with Prof. İlhan Baran and chamber
music with Alain Boeglin and Ulvi Yücelen. In 1997 he graduated from the same school with
great success and continued his studies with Prof. Selçuk Gündemir and
Prof.Kamuran Gündemir. During his education and after, he has given
numerous concerts at home and abroad, held solo recitals and recordings
for TRT Ankara Radio. He started working as a lecturer in Hacettepe
University Ankara State Conservatory Opera Division in 1997. Between the years
1997-1998, he performed F.Listz's First Piano Concerto with Hacettepe
University Ankara State Conservatory Orchestra conducted by Prof.
Hikmet Şimşek and İbrahim Yazıcı and
with Adana State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Orhan Şallıel. In 1998, he has won the second prize of British
Council's "The Young Musician of the Year" in piano branch. In 1999, he
studied piano with Prof. Dr. Paul Janes at Royal Northern College of
Music in Manchester, England.He garnered appreciations of great
musicians like Arnaldo Cohen, Anatol Ugorski, Jeffrey Biegel and Alain
Lefevre when he participated in their master classes. In 2006, he has completed his Master's Degree
with great success in Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory
Piano Mainart Department working with Ass. Prof. Oya Ünler. His thesis
was about "The investigation of Paganini's Studies under the influence
of Franz Liszt's piano technique". In 2007, he performed F. Chopin's First Piano
Concerto with Bursa State Symphony Orchestra conducted by İnci Özdil. The book "Children's songs Repertoire" which he
was the co-author of was published in 2011. Besides his solo career, he has performed many
concerts and recordings in the field of Opera-Singing accompaniment,
chamber music and with various choirs. TRT Polyphonic Choir, Orfeon
Chamber Choir, TRT Youth Choir, Gazi Choir and Hacettepe University
Ankara State Conservatory Choir are some of them. He has participated as
a pianist in many plays of State Theatre between 1994-2007. In 2014 he has performed G.Gershwin "Rhapsody in
Blue" in the closing concert of METU 15th Art Festival with TSK (Turkish
Armed Forces) Harmony Orchestra conducted by Tarık Tal. Currently, Bora Ateşyakan is still working as a lecturer and giving concerts and is the Chairman of the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory Singing Art Department. |
