Sociologist, he was born in 1957, and got his under graduate and doctoral degree from Hacettepe University Sociology Department, and his master’s degree from Gazi University in sociology. He is stil working as an expert in a goverment institution. He has been studying knowledge, art and literature, and sports from the perspective of socio-history. In 2007 he was awarded Balassi Balint Emlekkard Prize for literatüre in Hungary. Also he is an editor of an academic journal and he advises to several documenteries. He is a member of UNESCO World Heritage Commitee, the Turkish Society of History of Science, the Sociological Association, the Federation of Traditional Sports and Federation of University Sports.
