Elnara Kerimova, Azerbaijan


Born in Baku, Elnara KERIMOVA studied Choir Conducting at  Asaf ZEYNALLI Music College. Having had her degree from Üzeyir HACIBEYOV State Conservatory, she was appointed as the conductor of the Azerbaijan State Choir in  1987. During the tours that covered many countries with the choir, KERIMOVA performed the Yunus Emre Oratorio with Hikmet ŞİMŞEK in various Central Asian capital cities in 1991.

KERIMOVA, who performed her first concert in Turkey in The International Ankara Music Festival, relocated to Turkey on an invitation by the Republic of Turkey and started her works with the Radio Ankara Polyphonic Choir in 1992. She’s conducted the choir in many concerts both in Turkey and abroad including performances in Aspendos, Ankara, İstanbul, İzmir Music Festivals as well as concerts with The Presidential Symphony Orchestra. Her recordings with the choir she conducts as well as live performances have been periodically broadcast on TRT Radio and TV.

Elnara KERIMOVA has served in various educational institutions and amateur choirs. She gave lectures at Hacettepe State Conservatory and Bilkent University between 1994–1998. She’s been with the Orpheon Chamber Choir since 1999. KERIMOVA has performed in Azerbaijan, Belgium, Pakistan, Israel, Japan and China, and won the first place for Turkey in England and Canada, and four silver medals in the Choir Olimpics in Austria.

In September 2009, within the framework of an international project presented by TURKSOY, KERIMOVA  took part in the glorious choir scenes of the opera “Köroğlu” by Uzeyir HACIBEYOV. In November 2010, within a Project initiated by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism, she established the “Buta” Chamber Choir in Baku.

Conductor Elnara KERIMOVA was granted the title of “State Artist” by The President Of Azerbaijan in September 2011.
