Hakan Ekmen, Turkey


He was born in Ankara/TURKEY. He participated in TRT Children Choir when he was at the elementary school. He entered The Ankara State Conservatory in 1979 as the pupil of Professor Nimet Karatekin. In early years, he gave several recitals and took a lot of positive criticisms. For Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, he made some recordings. He joined to workshops by Roux, Brumberg, Katin, Tocco,T.Pikeizen, V.Erman who was world-class famous pianists.He finished the university in 1989 and he won the first prise of school and piano department. Between 1994-1996 he completed his MA degree as the pupil of Pianist Dr. Benal Tanrısever at The Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. He was accepted to Doctoral Program of Artistic Performance in 1997 at the same university. And he accomplished the DMA degree as a concert pianist to whom was advised by Professor Ersin Onay.He wrote some articles for Art Magazines and his interviews was published. Between the years 1993-1997 he worked as a classical music producer at a radio station. In the years 2002-2006 he was a piano teacher at Gazi University Department of Music Education.Since 1990 he has been working as an academic staff at The Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory. He continues his concert tours in Turkey and all over the world.

In addition, thanks to his success in improvisations on piano, he works as a composer. His wide range repertoire consists of the compositions from baroque, classical, romantic and impressionist periods. Authorities say that he plays piano with a warm and deeply touch and his interpretation is within emotional and full unaffectedness style.
