Mayumi Kameda, Japan/Switzerland
Mayumi Kameda was born in Tokyo. She studied the
piano (with Gabriel Tacchino) and chamber music (with Geneviève Joy) at
the Paris conservatoire, obtaining two first prizes in 1978. She was a
first prize winner at the Epinal International piano competition 1981,
and two years later she won the second Grand Prize at the Robert
Casadesus competition in Cleveland. She as given concerts in Europa and
Japan and has made numerous radio recording in Japan. Her repertoire
includes major contemporary works (Messiaen, Dutilleux) Since 1987 she
has taught the piano and pedagogy at the Geneva Conservatory. Mayumi is
a piano teacher at Geneva music conservatory and teaches pedagogy at
the HEM in Geneva.
Piano Duet The piano duet was formed in 1977. Since this date the duo played regularly the four hands and the two pianos repertory. They did several records with pieces by Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Debussy, Schumann, Dvorak, Saint-Saëns, Hans Huber, and the Swiss composer Lionel Rogg. They were invited to play with orchestras, included the Geneva' "Orchestre de la Suisse romande and played concertos like Mozart, Poulenc, or contemporary. They did many records for different radios. In Japan, they were invited to the Takefu Music festival, in China, at the Central Conservatory, in Singapore at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory. They traveled in USA, Argentine, Columbia, Kosovo, Serbia, Romania, Albania, Italy, Spain, France and Switzerland . Both are active separately as chamber musicians, vocal accompanist or conductor. Our passion is to teach, to play, to live every day with music.
