She was born in 1953, Karabük. She graduated from Sinop Teachers’ Training School for Girls  in 1970 and Gazi Institute of Education in 1973. She worked as a music teacher for 5 years in Yozgat Teachers’ Training School, in Kocaeli Derince High School for 4 years and in Kocaeli Anatolian High School for 1 year. She started her academic career as an assistant at Music Department at Gazi College of Teacher. She became an assistant professor in 1988, an associate professor in 1996 and a professor in 2004 in Gazi University. She gives seminars in music teaching methods and applications as an expert in and outside Turkey. She has various publications including books and articles. Also, she has taken a part in process of preparing music courses’ curriculums for Ministry of Education. Prof. Şentürk has been continuing her academic life at Music Education Department at Faculty of Education in Gazi University.
